Elevator Photography Competition
In practice, the elevator force is transferred between the beams that are placed around the duct and the elevator shaft is connected to these beams, but technically in the elevator car, the supports that are placed around the elevator shaft and the weight of the car enters these supports bear the total force. Conventional elevators use four angles to surround the elevator box. These angles are anchored to the ceiling beams at floor level.
Elevator connection to the structure:
The elevator structure is connected to the main structure from only one side. For designing elevator connections, we have a table that says, for example, if our elevator capacity is 6 or 8 people, what angle, what guide rail, what bracket, etc. should we use. Regarding the connection method: Generally, in concrete buildings, by placing a tweeter plate or anywhere that can be connected, the elevator angles are welded to the beams with prongs. The angle only plays the role of a rail and is not load-bearing. The elevator structure does not need braces. We have a diaphragm with an axial load that is borne by the cable and transferred to the beams around the box located in the truss.
Usually, modeling the effect of the elevator in ETABS is omitted. Since the elevator structure is completely separate from the structure, it is better to design its foundation separately. The elevator pit must be installed in all cases and the location of the elevator pit must be considered in the foundation design.
How to model an elevator shaft in SAFE
The elevator shaft in Safe software is defined as only one opening and due to its simplicity, it is possible to design it manually. Also, in wide foundations, with settings in the Detailing section, the reinforcements of the opening corners can be obtained according to the code. Because the SAFE software is not able to design in a situation where there is a difference in level in the foundation and considers the surface at one level… Perhaps the best way to design an elevator shaft manually is, but since the elevator shaft has small dimensions, its performance can be considered with a uniform foundation and the foundation can be designed entirely at one level… If the dimensions of the elevator shaft are large, the shaft can be modeled and designed as a separate foundation in the software so that its performance is separate from the foundation.
In the company’s design and development department, all planning and designs are based on the customer’s wishes and satisfaction, and we hope to be able to provide what is worthy of the customers of Otana Industrial Group.
